Top 6 Wedding Trends of 2023
the latest ideas and trends to make your wedding day truly unique…
As a Colorado wedding photographer I have seen many trends come and go through the years. 2023 is no different. This year ushers in some of the most exciting trends - as these six trends also create my favorite moments to capture and produce photographs my clients love.
Non-Evening Ceremonies. Planning your Denver, Colorado ceremony and who will attend can be daunting. Hosting your ceremony in the morning or afternoon helps on many levels. It can be less expensive to hold an earlier ceremony and you can make the event more intimate including fewer guests. This trend is wonderful for photography due to the changing light throughout the day and the option to freshen make-up or wardrobe for photographs. Brides will also not have to miss the beginning for receptions due to taking photos that can now be done prior to the big party.
All Eyes on the Aisle. Mirrors, flowers, petals and more can add spark to your final walk as a single person. As all eyes gaze down the aisle you want it to make a statement. This trend allows photographers multiple angles and views to capture all those involved on this ever so important descend to the altar.
Ceremonies for Two or Twenty. A private ceremony or one with a handful of guests has become a growing trend as more focus goes to the “party” or reception. This trend allows the bride and groom to focus on each other and the commitment they are making rather than on the hundreds watching. As a Colorado photographer, these smaller ceremonies produce emotional and candid images loved by clients. Couple this with a mid-day ceremony and you are right on trend for 2023.
Pre - Parties. Gone are the welcome events for bridal party only - this is now the party before the party. Whether it is a beach day, pool reception, golf outing or cocktail hour - every one is welcome at the welcome party. With the increase in destination weddings this trend makes all guests feel a part of the big day. For a photographer - these events provides an opportunity for relaxed and playful shots - bright flash exposures and silly poses that will make couples laugh for years to come.
Flashy Photos. Every bride and groom want to shine on their wedding day. High key, bright flash style party images make this dream a reality. The contrast with high flash photography puts the emphasis on the subject. The dark background of a Colorado evening reception allows for guests to be lit up with this fun trend.
Authentic Photography. Capturing the soul of a wedding is what I love most. Forced, arranged images are on the way out as couples feel free to let go and truly enjoy their day. These are the moments that leap out to me as a photographer and create the images clients adore.
These trends won’t last forever but they sure will produce some amazing photographs while they are here. Your wedding day should be uniquely yours, regardless of what is on trend. Take time to select your vendors wisely, think about the flow of the day and how you will feel while in the midst of it. Break-up the day with an early ceremony or have the ceremony lead straight to the reception - just make sure to capture it all.
